Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class creates a new vehicle category in the year 2003 by combining the elegance and the look of a coupe with the comfort and function of the sedan. The Mercedes CLS happy, surprised and a public competition to create a new style icon: CLS over the years has survived as the only four-door coupe in its class, and since October 2004 has become the car of choice for about 170,000 buyers worldwide. "Customers worldwide benefit from our bold step to launch the concept of a completely new vehicle to market", explained a delighted Dr. Joachim Schmidt, board member of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales & Marketing. "And with its attractive design, the new edition of the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class also benefits from the fact that we are competitive with the next generation of our four-door Coupé."

Celebrating its world premiere at the Paris motor show (October 2 to 17, 2010), 2012 CLS-Class is built on the pioneering role of its predecessor with new, fresh interpretation. "Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class just shows the way forward for the future clearly, Mercedes-Benz design idiom," explains Professor Gorden Wagener, head of design at Mercedes-Benz. "At the same time he took inspiration from the great tradition of style, subtle sportiness that has always been a feature Mercedes coupe."
